Tucker Center hosts annual Women Coaches Symposium
The Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport, directed by Nicole M. LaVoi, PhD, recently held their annual Women Coaches Symposium (WCS). This year marked the 10th anniversary of the event, “dedicated to building community, supporting women, and driving grassroots change” in women’s sports.
The WCS provides educational programming and professional development opportunities for women coaches. Veronica Alvarez presented the Jean K. Freeman keynote titled “A Welcomed Disruption,” discussing how to add value to the seats and spaces we occupy. Other programming discussed coaching leadership and well-being, facing adversity and navigating change, advocating for change in sports organizations, and more.
Beyond programming, the WCS presented Coach of the Year Awards, sponsored by Josten’s, to coaches who care about their athletes, strive for performance excellence, give back, and honor the game. 2025’s awards were presented to Amy Parratto and Anne Ninnemann.
This year’s WCS had 350+ attendees. For more details and information on this event, visit the Women Coaches Symposium website.
