Tian Yu, an undergraduate kinesiology student in the NeuroRehabilitation Across the Lifespan (NeuRAL) Lab, received Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) funding for the 2026 spring semester. Yu will be working on validating computer vision for human pose estimation in older adults and individuals with stroke. He will specifically be looking at how to quantify compensatory movements during functional tasks such as drinking a glass of water or buttoning a sweater. He will be supervised by Desmond Asante, doctoral student in the NeuRAL lab, and the lab's director, Rachel Hawe, PhD, an assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology.
