Stoffregen gives seminar to School of Kinesiology community

Tom Stoffregen, PhD, professor in the School of Kinesiology and director of the Affordance Perception-Action Laboratory (APAL), gave a seminar to the School of Kinesiology community on October 2, 2024. Stoffregen's seminar was titled "The Ecological Approach to Perceiving and Acting." In his talk, Stoffregen dove into a theory of perceptual-motor control that is general across all organisms. He presented examples from the basic science and clinical literatures to illustrate the generality and practical utility of the theory. Stoffregen viewed this seminar as a valediction since he will be retiring in January 2025.

Many faculty, staff, and students from the School of Kinesiology and the University of Minnesota attended this event. Stoffregen's talk was the first event of the School's seminar series. Two other seminars will occur in November and April to help the School's community learn about various areas of kinesiology.
