Tom Stoffregen, PhD, professor in the School of Kinesiology and director of the Affordance Perception-Action Laboratory (APAL), was recently featured in a New York Times Wirecutter article titled "Do these ridiculous glasses cure motion sickness?" The glasses have gone viral with social media users, claiming to help motion sickness. Stoffregen provided his insight into the effectiveness of the glasses. He discussed how some qualities of the glasses don't support well-accepted motion sickness principles, and that eliminating peripheral vision, having something to eat, and staying hydrated are some things people can do to alleviate motion sickness symptoms.
