I am a first year sport management doctoral student and a graduate assistant, assisting with class content delivery and research, especially in areas at the intersection of sports for all and the role of sport in the development of individuals, communities and countries — particularly from a critical lens that focuses on organizations within the Global South and how social entrepreneurship may enable enhanced sustainability for Sport for Development (SfD) programs.
There is a dearth of quality evidence on sport for development in Africa from African authors. I offer a truly African perspective that will strengthen the need for global South perspectives regarding sport’s unique role to achieve sustainable development. In my opinion, SfD is and will be a significant contributor towards the success of Africa’s sustainable development agenda by 2063. I am devoted to investigating and developing strategies to accomplish SfD objectives and goals, as well as improving programs’ design to precipitate direct social change benefits to disadvantaged populations and communities. I am passionate about using my skills and experiences towards the personal development of children and young adults and particularly committed to bridging access to education gaps, entrepreneurship and employability in the global South through sport.
