My research broadly focuses on examining the efficacy of behavioral interventions for increasing physical activity among sedentary adults. My work has included the examination of which mediating variables (e.g., social support, enjoyment of physical activity) are important for physical activity behavior change. I have also conducted randomized trials examining the effect of exercise on mental health (e.g., depression during pregnancy and postpartum). More recent research has examined interventions focusing on high intensity interval training (HIIT) and strength training for women. Please note that due to my full-time administrative appointment, I am not accepting new graduate students.
