Antunovic and students publish on women's sports coverage in Minnesota
Dr. Dunja Antunovic, with students Monica Crawford, Kim Soltis, Taylor Daly, and Ariel Yang, published in Communication and Sport.
Dunja Antunovic, PhD, associate professor of sport sociology in the School of Kinesiology, published an article titled "'It feels like it's in our back yard': Centering 'place' in local women's sports media coverage" in Communication & Sport. The article argues that successful hometown teams and athletes drive coverage, while structural changes in the news industry and geographic distance present barriers. The co-authors on this paper are Monica Crawford, doctoral student in the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and School of Kinesiology alumnae Kim Soltis (BS, MS), Taylor Daly (BS), and Ariel Yang (BS). The study was supported by the Research and Innovation Office (RIO) Grant-in-Aid program.
