Yung-tze Lee publishes in Journal of Motor Behavior
Masters student Yung-tze Lee, with colleagues from the HSC Lab, has published on toe flexion and proprioception in the Journal of Motor Behavior, the first such article from the University of Minnesota and Chang Gung University dual-degree program.
Yung-tze Lee, a member of the School of Kinesiology's Human Sensorimotor Control Laboratory (HSC), has published a paper, entitled, "Proprioceptive Acuity of the Ankle is Higher in Plantarflexion than in Dorsiflexion," in the Journal of Motor Behavior. Lee, as first author, is the first Master's student from the dual degree program of the University of Minnesota with Chang Gung University, Taiwan, to publish work in a scientific journal. Lee's research found that people are better at sensing their ankle position when pointing their toes downward (plantarflexion) than when pulling them upward (dorsiflexion). Researchers determined that this is likely because the muscles involved have different concentrations of sensory receptors that detect position and movement. The paper was written in collaboration from Farina Mirbagheri, Xinyi Zhou, and Juergen Konczak, PhD, professor and HSC Lab director.
