Tamara De Paula Mancilha selected as 2024 Advanced Pathways to Research Program (A-PReP) Scholar

Doctoral student Tamara De Paula Mancilha has been selected as a 2024 Advanced Pathways to Research Program (A-PReP) Scholar. Mancilha will work with Lisa Chow, MD, and Don Dengel, PhD during the summer to  compare measurements of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) determined by dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in visceral cavity. In addition, Mancilha will examine changes in VAT to changes in insulin sensitivity across the two dietary intervention groups. As an A-PReP Scholar, Mancilha will also participate in the same weekly seminars.
