Smith gave presentation to Minneapolis LabView User Group

Thomas Smith, PhD, research scientist in a retired School of Kinesiology lab, gave a presentation to the Minneapolis LabView User Group On March 13, 2025. The presentation summarized key findings from Smith's 2024 Ergonomics in Design paper that demonstrated, for the first time, that humans are incapable of directly perceiving the passage of time. LabView, an object oriented programming language, was key to establishing this conclusion. The key implication of this finding is for a number of millennia, humans have been devising various designs for keeping track of time, from the pyramids of Egypt to the hourglass, clocks, watches, or the atomic clock, of today.
