Drake Pham came to the School of Kinesiology from Columbia Heights, MN. Combining his interests of sports and recreation, Drake is a Sport Management major and Administrative Intern for the School.

Matt Hemsch came to the School of Kinesiology staff as an administrative intern this fall. Hailing from Cottage Grove, Matt is a Minnesota native. He came to the School of Kinesiology from the Engineering program, motivated by a passion for movement.

A ‘21 BS student in Kinesiology, Matt Hempe also worked as an administrative intern in the front office during his three years with the School of Kinesiology. Matt is now pursuing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) here at the U. 

“It's been a huge challenge to stay competitive and training so many hours with school, but I've managed decently. I've got a really good team of coaches and, in school, everybody's incredibly helpful. My professors help me get assignments done, get extensions, or make up for absences when I compete. It’s a challenge, but not unmanageable.”

Minnesota has become more than just a childhood home-away-from-home for 2011 sport management alumna and Vikings employee Kara Kawakami. Growing up in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Kara Kawakami spent her summers in Minnesota, learning about her Korean heritage.
