Coaching certificate

The sports coaching certificate program is ideal for students who wish to coach (or are currently coaching) youth, club, high school or college sports. This program provides a general theoretical basis for the many areas of knowledge needed for coaching.

Related major programs

The sports coaching certificate is a campus-wide program, open to all undergraduate students, regardless of college or major. Students in the following majors may find this minor particularly relevant: 

  • Education/teacher licensure programs 
  • Kinesiology 
  • Sport management 
  • Youth studies 

How to apply

    Become a sports coaching certificate student

    Current undergraduate students may pursue the certificate. It is not possible to graduate with both the sports coaching minor and the certificate. Graduate students may apply for the certificate if they are not pursuing a degree in a similar discipline.

    Application instructions

    To apply, submit the application form.

    The deadlines are: 

    • Fall: August 1
    • Spring: December 15
    • Summer: April 15
